My point here is to show examples of some of the different types of charts and maps used in locational astrology.
This is the natal chart for a San Fransico, CA birth. I'll be using this "base" chart data for all of the maps and charts you'll find given here, unless otherwise noted.
Natal Data-May 8, 1962, 6:27 AM, San Francisco, CA
This is the "local space/horizon chart" from Solar Maps for natal San Francisco. Personally, I really dislike this chart and normally use the Azimuth Map Wheel from BlueStar or WinStar (next chart) in my own work. This chart does give a cursory view of the vital directional information you want, but lacks the altitude information that you also want to be able to see at the same time to evaluate planets on or near the horizon.
Below is the "Azimuth" local space wheel and Azimuth & Altitude Grid (from Winstar). This chartform provides the best view of a local space chart. It puts 0 degree at the North position and corresponds to any compass. It also gives the altitude of all planets and numerical azimuth degree. The main points to look at in locational astrology are planets at or near the horizon and planets on or near the chart angles, i.e. North/South/East/West. The grid form gives another graphic view.
This is the AstroCartoGraphy Map from Solar Maps (World View) - This can be zoomed to any location or area of the world (see an example below for a zoomed view of New Zealand)
This map shows planets on the MC/IC and ASC/DSC, the local
horizon and ecliptic.
This is the Local Space Map for natal (San Francisco) location - Solar Maps (World View) This map shows the planetary lines in local space, basically providing "directional" information and planet paths.
This map shows a combination of both AstroCartoGraphy MC/IC/Asc/Dsc lines and directional local space lines.
This map is a close up view of New Zealand, zoomed in from the map above... these are all still from the base natal chart in San Francisco. You'll see by looking at this view, that the individual has some very definite connections to this New Zealand location.
Now for the relocation....... In this case, to Christchuch, New Zealand.
Standard Relocation from natal birthplace (San Francisco, CA) to Christchurch, New Zealand, using converted birth time, coordinates and time zone for Christchurch.
Below is the same standard relocation, but using natal birth time and time zone and the long/lat coordinates for Christchurch. You'll see that either way works, this method is simpler and eliminates conversion problems.
